The Carnegie Museums Complex
The Carnegie Museums complex is located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh and encompasses the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History (famous for it’s world-renowned dinosaur collection!) and the Hall of Sculpture and Architecture. Other connected buildings include the Carnegie Free Library and Pittsburgh's own Carnegie Music Hall.
The Andy Warhol Museum
The collection at the Andy Warhol Museum includes more than 4,000 works of art by Warhol including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, films and videos, and a massive collection of Warhol's "time-capsules" - boxed records of the artist's day-to-day dealings and penchant for collecting. While dedicated to Andy Warhol, the museum also hosts rotating exhibits by artists who push the boundaries of art, just as Warhol did.
Fallingwater
Nearby Fallingwater is considered by many to be architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s greatest masterpiece. Arguably the most famous private house ever built, Fallingwater epitomizes man living in harmony with nature. The house, set amid 5000 acres of natural wilderness, is constructed of local sandstone, reinforced concrete, steel and glass. It juts out over a waterfall on Bear Run, appearing as naturally formed as the rocks and trees which embrace it.
Visitors also have the opportunity to discover the distinctive character of the city’s 89 unique and ethnically distinctive neighborhoods. From the South Side Slopes and the bustling markets of the Strip District to the Downtown Cultural District to Little Italy in Bloomfield, Pittsburgh is the place where it all comes together.
